I'm having mine removed when I get new tires and painting over the light. Mine are not on, but I see them as worthless.

I got an extra set for less than $40 bucks on ebay, FOMoCO branded right on them. Brand new... they are cheap as hell it's just the 500% mark up companies charge for them that sucks.

You just have to make sure you order the right frequency.

On a related note, some states demand that the TPMS system be functional with no light on to pass inspection. A list can be found here:

Not my state I know they tried too discuss it, but was shot down due to cost factor and no data really proving they prevent accidents or reduce them.. Having TPMS sensors hasn't proven to reduce accidents really. I see them as too lazy to regularly check or learn to check tire pressure yourself sensors. But that is my 2 cents worth on it.

On my Corvette I have the option to tune them out, but I can't see a good reason why anyone would want to do that.

It's a federal law not state.
