Default TPMS compatability

I'm hearing mixed information about the ability to run 2015+ TPMS in my 2013. If I buy the relearning tool and someone's new take offs with sensors in them, can I make my truck learn the new sensors? They're the same frequency so I don't see why not but does someone know for sure?

All I have read is they aren't compatible. You would think with the same frequency though they would just need to be programmed. Did you use to have an FJ? Your screen name is familiar.

Your post is what made me question it, I was reading elsewhere that they can be made to work together.

I've read many references that the '15 and newer TPMS will not work on the '14 and older models.

I bought '15 wheels (no TPMS included), purchased Ford TPMS 315 MHz sensors that acclimate to my '13 truck. Work perfect.

the sensors in 15 and up are not compatiable with the older generations, regardless of what you have read else ware.. no amount of programming will make it work.
they may both be 315mhz sensors, but there are a lot of sub frequentcies in that 315 range.

You don't need a "relearning tool." You simply deflate air out of each tire thru the valve stem when the BCM goes thru the learning process.

Some even get lucky and don't have to relearn. I put 15 platinum wheels on my 2013 and got brand new FoMoCo sensors off eBay. Installed on my truck and never had to relearn... 5 mo and 4k miles and still no light

Okay, that's where I know you from. I had a Tacoma before my FJ. I have a few posts on there as Dexterdog.
