Default towing

I have a 2010 Ford F150 King Ranch. A friend of mine wants to buy a 40' travel trailer thats parked in my part of the country. I was heading his way anyway so he asked if I'd deliver it for him. He lives about 1300 miles away. I don't know the weight of this trailer cause the people selling it don't know the weight. It's a 40' Falcon. Should I be pulling this thing 1300 miles? Never towed anything before?

a 40' TT is going to weight an awful lot unless its an ultra lite. i would first find out how much it weighs before you go any further with it. 1300 miles is further than i would want to haul anything that is over or near the max payload especially if it was my first time towing.

You need to find out the weight of the trailer then what your truck is capable of pulling. Find out the specs on your truck then look it up in your manual. 40ft is a big trailer to be pulling for the 1st time towing. Sounds to me it may be to big for the f150. Also do you have a brake controller in your king ranch? I would assume you do. Differently you want one for a big trailer it's not safe without one.

Don't even think about it!!! Any TT that is 40' long is going to have a GVWR of at least 10klbs. Way to heavy for the F150. I would not want to tow that with my Excursion!!!

X2 and also a weight distribution hitch. you WILL need one with the amount of tongue weight on a 40 footer.

A 40'er sounds like a park model TT. I wouldn't touch that if I were you.

[edit]Just for giggles, I just looked up a new 40' park model and the UVW is 11,005 lbs

Don't tow that with your new truck. 40' is HUGE. If its a tongue trailer that's a lot of weight back there and I'm assuming you don't have a 5th wheel if you've never towed before.

I do have a trailer break and the trailer is older and looks pretty flimsy. anyone know where on the trailer it would say the weight? Regardless, from the feedbaak it sounds like it will be staying put. Thanks for the feedback everyone.

And especially if it has been a park trailer (park model or not), I imagine there would be tire, suspension and brake issues.

The weight should be inside a cupboard door (usually the first one you come to), sometimes the door jamb of the entrance door or a plate outside on the driver's side

I just went to a trailer manufacturer site for the info just to get a general idea of weights.
