Default Tow Mirror Question

I have the Max Tow package on my FX4 and got in some flush mount LED's. I've seen this quite a bit on Instagram but not really the how to. I'm assuming there is quite a mess to be made to get them to fit in the mirrors but I'm up for a challenge. My question is, how do you get the mirror front off?

Look up Tasca Ford parts and check out an exploded view of the mirror parts. That may give you an idea how things go together?

Yeah just went through searching eBay at pictures of the glass. Seems like on the Super Duty glass (assuming they are the same versus the regular tow mirrors the F-150 also has) there are three big clips that snap it to the "plate". I got a slight peak back there yesterday but it wasn't anything worthwhile. Hard to get any articulation enough to be able to release anything so I can only assume it just snaps in/snaps off.

Getting started on at least part of the project though

This will be exciting. Please make a thread when done. Wondering if a SR-Q would fit easier though.

Yes indeed. I haven't really seen anybody write up or even document doing this so its all eyes on me I guess. I plan to definitely make a write up.

Also yeah I guess I could have considered them but I like the look of these. Though we will see how well this turns out lol. I'll keep everyone posted for sure. Glad to get this break to actually be able to do it. This weekend I'll be full steam in it and should be able to have it done.

Would there be room to put a light that size in the max tow mirrors?

The one I'm trying to do? I've seen it on our mirrors (SuperDuty but the concept is the same) so it's definitely possible. As far as room to do it, I doubt it'll be as simple as cutting a hole in the front cover and bolting it up and running wires. I am anticipating trimming. I haven't got behind there yet to see what I'm working with but I've seen pictures and it's pretty cramped, hence the preemptive cutting of the cooling fins before even starting, also because with the fins as is there was virtually no way it would work from the eyeball measuring side by side with the mirror. I'm cutting about 2/3 of the total depth (not counting the 1/4 or so inch for the faceplate) off of it. I don't anticipate running these lights to the point where I would be worried about heat dissipation.

Well I've sub'd, wanna see how this turns out, would be great mod if everything all goes well, would be killer when off roading or when I'm out hunting, light up the side of the trail/road. Wonder if this would work with the normal mirrors?? If a light like yours doesn't work, perhaps one that is a bit smaller that will fit in there,

Yeah I didn't get a chance to get into it today but it's all I have planned for tomorrow. Should be a moderately quick project. Yeah as for the normal mirrors I'm not sure. I have a Platinum with them, I'll take a look and see what can be done when I finish this. I know I've seen the Oracle kits for them but they are mad pricey. Hopefully these will fit with some minor cutting. I mean it's been done so I can't imagine it won't be possible but if not I will probably find somewhere else to put them. Maybe the front inserts in the bumper to compliment a 20" I want to throw in the hole there.

I'm definitely eager to get these in though. Like you said they would be perfect for off-road/night ops. The slight angle outward would really give a huge pan of forward light and a fold of the mirrors and you can get light on the side with ease. Unsure if I want to wire left/right individually yet or not, I'd like to be able to hit a switch for them both while having the ability to do them individually. First time wiring up stuff like this so getting technical like that would be an adventure but I assume that's possible.
