Default Touch Up Paint

About 5 or 6 years ago I applied a product called Opticoat 2.0 on my F150. It is a ceramic coating that is supposed to be permanent. The sides and hood still look great and water beads like the day I applied it. I have since done a fairly good job keeping my truck nice and clean with frequent washings, but I guess I neglected the roof. Today I got up there and found some not-so-good news about the roof paint's condition. The picture below is behind the sunroof. There is another spot in front of the sunroof that is not quite as bad. There is also a small rust spot (about 1/8" diameter) where it looks like something chipped the paint off. Overall, the roof just generally looks worn. The color is dark blue pearl (color code DX). I'm thinking about painting the whole roof. Anyone attempt something like this as a DIY project? Any recommended suppliers? I found a website for AutomotiveTouchup that has my paint code and clearcoat. Anyone with any experience with this company's products? And how much do you think I will need to do the whole roof? Thanks in advance!

You could do the roof with a pint of paint. Make sure to use a 2 part clear coat sprayed with an actual paint gun, not a clear from an aerosol can. Clears in aerosol cans don't have the hardener and won't last long at all, especially on the roof which sees the most harsh conditions.

Not that using rattle cans is the best method, but you can get 2k clearcoats with hardeners.

Thanks for the replies. AutomotiveTouchup has my color and clear coat in various forms, including rattle cans and spray gun variety. They do offer a 2-part clear coat. I may keep this truck for quite a while, so I'm going to go with whatever will last longer (spray gun and 2-part clear). I just need to do some research to see if there are any quality issues with this vendor, or if there is something better out there. And since it is the roof, it doesn't need to come out perfect. But I do want it to look good from a few feet away as well as last (with proper maintenance).

I used Automotive Touchup products on a friends older Toyota pick up. Paint was a perfect match and clear coat has held up well so far. Only been a year.
I just ordered some for my running boards for touch up. See how it matches and stays.

Thank you - I was hoping for some feedback from someone that has dealt with them. Did you use the 2-part products? Or one part?

I used the aerosol for a lower body repair behind the front fender. Primer, base coat clear.

Lol, I don't need it to be perfect, but I don't think I'm ready to roller my roof!

Wish I could give feedback on the product, but since we're on the topic gunna be picking up some 2k clear coat in aerosol can from Napa auto parts paint facility in ****in' Brampton tomorrow morning. S'called Spray Max and it's the only **** I've been able to find in Canadistan that's 2k. This spray max crap is German so I hope it works as well as those square headed gerries do.

Nasdarovia!
