I try to use gas that's ethanol free and running 93 tune so I use 93 Octane for better performance and fuel mileage when I stay off of it !!!

As for longevity, good oil is more important and frequent enough oil changes. When you change your oil reset your OLM to 90% and change it as soon as it hits 10% and tells you to change it soon. I usually change mine just before it warns me. The buildup in the intake and intake valves is oil buildup.

Fuel quality will have more of an effect on fuel economy. I have seen as much as a 3mpg difference between different brands. I'm not sure if it was actual quality, the amount of ethanol, the additives or any combination in between. I won't buy gas at my local Arco or costco because I saw a 3 mpg drops with Arco and 2 mpg with costco. I personally see the best fuel economy with Shell and Chevron gas with Shell being the best for MPG.

Keep in mind that I'm in CA and we have the worst gas in the nation. I was getting 19-20mpg at 85 on texas and arizona gas, came to california and I usually have to slow down to 75 to get the same.

I saw the advisement in my owner's manual to use Top Tier gasolines. A little research showed that most direct injection engine manufacturers recommend Top Tier gasolines. If there wasn't something to it (read the BMW post), I don't think they would waste the ink to suggest you use it. I don't use Top Tier exclusively, but I try to fill up with it 1/3 to 1/2 the time.

Last weekend when I filled up at my local ethanol free Shell station I noticed the price difference between premium and regular was $.68 per gallon. That's roughly $25 more per 36 gallon tank so I put the cheap stuff in.

In most cases no, but it depends on how far out of your way and how much if any increase in mpg or lower the price. If you're driving out of your way to go across town because gas is 5 cents cheaper then you are actually burning more gas to go there and back and $$$ wise you are actually spending more. 9/10 times filing at whatever station is on your route is the most economical if that is your goal.

The only Top Tier Gas station I pass on the way to work charges 24 cents more per gallon of regular than the WaWa or QuikChek convenience store/gas station plazas that are literally all over the place in Jersey. They do get excellent turnover so I'll just fill up there and throw 3 bottles of Techron down the tank every other oil change (or maybe every oil change if I'm feeling OCD).

Techron is probably also completely unnecessary. I've never used it so I'm not sure what all it claims or if it works but e10 fuel will be sufficient to keep the fuel system clean if that is your goal. The extra fuel mpg in a bottle claims are always BS in my experience.

E10 is actually worse for engines. Even in the manual it states to run non ethanol fuel every few tanks of E15. What makes you think e10 is any better?

F**K ETHANOL.

3 bottles of Tectron is excessive. 1 or 2 at most will be more than enough, especially how often you plan on doing it.
