http://www.retrax.com/ My nephew has this one and he loves it. Tailgate does not have to be lowered to open it. It's very solid, well made and has never leaked. I wish I had bought this instead of the ARE fiberglass one I bought.
Thanks

I have the Foldacover G4 and it will open the way you are describing. It has four panels that fold up. You can open it from the front or rear panel without opening the tailgate. The cover rests on top of the bed rails and is secured utilizing the stakepockets.

I have the Truck cover USA tonneau. Opens with a key with tailgate up or a keyless option to retract cover if you let the tailgate down. No issues and nearly waterproof.

I have a RetraxOne cover that I purchased used. I've been thoroughly happy with mine. It has a latch with a pop-up release so it can be secured anywhere along the bed rail. A key is used to keep the pop-up from opening. This is totally independent from the tailgate lock. I've also done the tailgate electric lock modification so the gate locks with the doors.
The only potential complaint is that I do have some very small leakage areas, just enough to get the spray in bed liner wet, but not enough to puddle. I'm sure I could add some weather stripping to eliminate the leaks, but it hasn't bothered me enough to go through the hassle.

Boost :)
Go with the Peragon. You will NEVER be disappointed. It is opened from the front of the bed on the drivers side. No need to open tailgate to operate it. I've had two. One on my previous truck and did the black powdercoat and then just recently put one on my new truck and did the paint to match option they have now.
The President of Peragon, Heath, is a frequent viewer of this forum and will answer any and all questions you have. Their support and service is second to none and its an extremely durable and well made cover.
PM peragon here on the forum. That is Heath and he will respond pretty quickly. Almost no other company out there does that.

No he hasn't had a single problem and he put it on his 2011 F150 5.6 bed when he bought the truck new, so it's been on for 3 years and still looks like new.
You don't have to lock it just close the latch and it stays where you put it.
Auto Anything is a popular parts store on this forum and they have 61 reviews with 55 giving it 5 stars and 6 giving 4 stars. http://www.autoanything.com/tonneau-...-tonneau-cover
I didn't know about the negative reviews on Amazon but I personally don't trust any reviews, good or bad, on Amazon but that's just me. Maybe my nephew just got lucky and got a good one. His was installed by the retrax dealer where he bought it. Don't know if the quality of the install makes a difference in the customers satisfaction or not. Based on his experience with his I still want one.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I'm leaning towards the peragon at this point. Can't decide if I want the black one or the tan one to match the rails. I'm thinking the tan would just be too much visually
