Tonneau cover that opens from top?
Hi everyone. I just bought a 2014 King Ranch and I'm looking for a hard folding or hard rolling tonneau for it. My garage space is extremely tight, and so I'd like to be able to open the tonneau cover without opening the tailgate first, whether this be via key, or latch or whatnot. Do any tonneau covers offer this feature?
This would be for situations where I need to put something in the bed for later when the truck is in the garage. I'd rather not start the truck, pull 3 feet forward, open the tailgate, open the tonneau, put the item in the bed, then close the tonneau and the tailgate, and back up 3 feet to close my garage door.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

So I think you will have a hard time finding this. Most of the companies use the tailgate being up as a security feature. I hope that makes sense. On the flip side of that something like an Undercover can open without the tailgate being down once you "Unlock" it. But the undercover is a hard tonneau and not a hard folding.

Ditto to the above, not sure about Hard Folding/Rolling. Plenty of the "regular" hard tonneau covers will meet the need though, and as long as you don't have a super low interior ceiling issue, that may be an option that works for you.

Try the Truxedo Deuce.
It's a soft roll up that also has a one way flip from the bulkhead. To my knowledge you just pull a strap near the cab to release it:

This looks to be the most promising one so far. Let me look some more into them. I appriciate the response.

My Lund tri fold comes off in less than 2 minutes. Open the garage door, open tailgate, remove cover.

I had a trifold on my former truck, a tacoma, so I'm familiar with how those work and really liked it. But it's not going to work for this application because of how small my garage compared to the f150.

http://www.retrax.com/ My nephew has this one and he loves it. Tailgate does not have to be lowered to open it. It's very solid, well made and has never leaked. I wish I had bought this instead of the ARE fiberglass one I bought.

I have the Foldacover G4 and it will open the way you are describing. It has four panels that fold up. You can open it from the front or rear panel without opening the tailgate. The cover rests on top of the bed rails and is secured utilizing the stakepockets.
