Default Tire rotations

I recently bought a 13 f150 and it had brand new tires put on it before I drove it home from the dealer. I was wondering how often I should rotate the tires and which pattern I should use.

In the manual, which is online. Front to rear, cross rears. Rotate every 7,500.

rears straight forward, fronts crossed to the rear every 3000mi/5000km.
this will ensure each tire makes it to every corner of your truck by the 4th rotation

This is how I'd rotate, but I think every 3000 miles is a bit too often for most tires. An aggressive mud tire will need to be rotated more often (3000-5000). A street tire much less (6000-8000). Most All Terrains somewhere in between so the type of tire matters.

Driving style matters too. Lots of hwy. miles will get you farther than lots of city miles. I watch the front tires, if I see feathering on the edges I get the rotation.

yes it sounds excessive, but it can really benefit in the long run, never giving the tire a chance to really develop any irregular ware. Once it does develop, it will continue to wear that way no matter what position it is in on the truck.

Years ago, I worked in a tire shop, and one of our best sellers, the BFG AT (this was before it was a KO or KO2), these used to come back all the time for irregular wear. we discovered they needed rotation at 4000 to 5000 km to stop this. I believe BFG has since improved this fault in the tire but still, to be safe......

now take a good highway tire like say a michelin LTX, those damn things could almost go their entire life without rotating. lol

now on my old ranger, I had a set of Bridgestone Dualer AT revo that went about 12000 km without rotation thanks to the dumbass at costco who installed them back on the rims the way they came off. I didn't have a second set of rims yet for my winters so I took advantage of costco's free change over offer since I bought the tires there. had them make the takeoff locations in the fall, and in the spring the guy put them back exactly where they had come off of..... took advantage of their free rotation offer the following weekend..lol

I rotate every 5K miles with oil change... rear to front and cross the front to the rear. I run Mud terrain's and have great even wear.

Once a year on the truck, which is 7 to 9k miles. And use the manual as a guide. I also try to check pressure once a month or so. But even with the convenience of a lift I think every 3k is OCD.
