Default Tire Recommendations

Just bought a 2014 XLT 5.0 Flex and it needs new tires. It currently has 3 Pro Comp 35x12.5x20 on it and 1 Ironman All Country. Guessing the Dude who traded it in replaced just one, lol.

Thinking of getting Toyo M/ts put on it. Will be my daily driver. I don’t care about noise but I would like to get a lot of life out of the tires if I’m going to fork the money for them.

The MT is a great tire but road life is poor. If you can back off a bit on the aggressiveness, the AT2 Xtreme is a very capable off road tire. Its a little less money and lasts a LOT longer on the pavement.

Or you could go with an R/T tire. Toyo makes one that has a 45,000 mile warranty. They are a good cross between m/t and an a/t tire. I love My Nitto ridge grapplers and they are super quiet on the road, even quieter than my bfg ko2's before that.

I feel your pain. Why can't we get a MT tire with the tread life of an AT. I've heard that the toyo MT is a great tireand has good tread life for an MT. Currently I have a set of the new General Grabber X3's. They drive nice on the road but I only have 4,000 miles on them so far.

Do the nitto ridge grapplers come with a warranty? How many miles can be expected?

I like the aggressive look to the mud tires. Just wanted a good blend of reliability and aggressiveness.

Falken Wildpeak A/T3W

Best tire I've used out of almost everything on the market.

Because the channels are big and the rubber flexes a lot more, shortening the life.

I REALLY love my Cooper ST Maxx tires. Aggressive looking, does a great job of exiting mud, and most of all they are great on the road and are expected to last a long time. I came from Nitto M/T Trail Grapplers and the Coopers were a great step up.

I do not believe there is a mileage warranty (but could be wrong), but there is the usable tread life warranty stuff. Right now after about 6500 miles I am down between 1/32 and 2/32's. So I am expecting about 50,000 miles out of them give or take. I do rotate and balance the tires every 5,000 miles and generally get longer than warranty life out of my tires.

They are expensive but I figured I would give them a try. With Toyo offering 45,000 mile warranty I can't imagine nitto life would be far off that and so far it appears that to be true.

Toyo MT/RT or Nitto Ridge grappler IMO.

The MT's can last you a good 40-50k if you keep your front end components up to par and the alignment and rotations consistent.
