Default Tire recommendations

Looking for a new set of tires. Not fooling myself this time around, (37" Goodyear Wrangler MTR/Kevlar on my last ride) .... 100% on road miles no posing.

Not willing to go with 35's, can't get in the parking garage at work comfortably. Looking strongly at 34's. Need a tire that is not aggressive, quiet, high mileage, probably a 275/65R20 OR something that is nearly the same size.

Will be using the stock platinum rims and really want to keep the almost stock "look".

At the same time I will be doing a leveling adjustment. Still thinking the Fox 2.0 coil overs - obviously not for off road, for soaking bumps and occasional pot holes we have around here. Many people have commented the Fox shocks are a definite upgrade over the stock suspension. Seems if you want to do shocks and leveling at the same time, it is only a couple hundred more for the Fox coil overs. Like the Icon's, just can't justify the extra $$ for street driving.

Looked hard at the Michelin LTX A/T2, but they are some serious extra coin and many have commented they have been disappointed with the mileage numbers and some have commented they aren't all that quiet ..... of course these are stock tires on the F250/350 and maybe the mileage numbers are not really a problem w/F150. Anyway they are the front runner today.

I know this will probably get me flamed, but I have had good luck with the wearing and performance of the stock Pirelli's and would consider buying again if they made the size I was looking for. Now at 27k miles and they really look in to be in good condition. Probably have another 20k in them.

Any comments welcome regarding your tires and experience maybe some tire sizes I haven't considered. Thanks

kinda surprised about the pirelli longevity. I have about 23k and they are almost done, though they are not a bad highway tire. I'm going with the nitto terra grappler myself in 305/55-20 (33+") for the quiet ride, longevity, and somthing better than the scorpions for when I do get off road (though on road will be the most common).

Others that seem to garner favor for something better than stock but still quiet are the goodyear duratrac, toyo open country 2, and a a couple others that are not comping to mind.

stay away from the michelin A/T's.. they came stock on my 2013's w/the 17" rim and found them squirmy. they also make an odd howling noise when turning at low speeds... couldn't wait to pull them off.

the cooper xeon LTX may be up your ally.. sport truck tire w/all terrain capabilities.

Not sure if they're in the size you're looking for but I just put on a set of Cooper at3 in 275/55/20 and they're as quiet as the Bridgestone duelers I replaced. Will buy again.

Oh...and Cooper has a $70 mail-in rebate good through July 15.

Like the coopers ... thanks. What I noticed tonight is the stock Pirelli's are a P275/55R20 ... "P" meaning passenger vehicle. If you look further at the spec's they are reasonably light (about 41 lbs) and are on the low side of the rated load weight.

Looks like most of the 34" tires - 275/65R20's are LT (light truck) and E rated, meaning heavy sidewalls and of course much heaver tire. Also the weight rating is much higher.

I guess what I'm looking for is a taller tire (because I like the look), with a C or D class rating as I'm never going to have anything really heavy in this truck.

P275x60x20 Toyo AT2's at stock height on Platinum wheels. 43 lbs so lightweight without a big mileage hit. Good option if you don't need a LT rated tire.

I was looking at the Falken Wildpeak ATs..they seem to have excellent reviews and decent longevity at a fairly low price.

PawPaw - those Toyo's may be a winner .... 33" vs. the 275/65R20 that are about 34". Looks to me any 20" dia. 34" tire is going to be a LT and E rated.

1" probably isn't going to make that big of difference, but I believe 14 lbs per tire will make a difference. Also the softer sidewall should help with the ride.

I do like the Toyo's anyway (as a brand) had a set of 34" open country mud terrains on my JK jeep before and they were great wearing tires and really not that loud for a mud tire.
