I believe the po cleared the codes. And the cams where past the point of timing errors. They where so far off the computer thought they where broken.

It's so weird that it cut the fuel pressure. I checked it tonight and it's spot on. The service manual was very vague on this. Imi could not find anything on this specifically.

No more check engine light. And my remote start works again. I'm so excited.

Did it in my garage half pulled in on the coldest days of the fricking year.

I replaced all the tensioners, idler, crank gear, vct selonoids, phasers, and secondary chains. The crank gear had some severe wear so I'm glad I replaced it.

I also installed a high flow melling oil pump.

It took about 14-16 hrs total. I would have had it done on sun except it was v day, but a got a couple hrs in.

I replaced everything except the secondary tensioners.

There is a lobe on the camshaft that physically drives the HPFP - that lobe pumps fuel up to pressure.

The HPFP also has an internal solenoid that closes, allowing pressure to build, or opens, allowing pressure to release.

Put simply, if the solenoid is closed and the lobe travels its full stroke, you'll get maximum pressure. If the solenoid is open for the first half of the lobe's stroke, then closes for the second half of the lobe's stroke, you get half the maximum pressure.

So to get the desired pressure from 200-2000psi, the ECU needs to know exactly to the ten-thousandth of a second when to close the solenoid to capture the pressure as the lobe goes up and down. If the cam timing is off, the ECU is going to cycle that solenoid at the wrong time and your high pressure control will go to ****.

Default Same issue

I just had the same exact problem. It ran rough for a short while, then when I goosed it getting on the highway, it ran really rough under acceleration. a bunch of codes ..crankshaft sensor related. Everyone I took it to agreed it was the timing chain. The average garage refused to work on the timing chain on an EcoBoost, they said it required "specialty tools" and I have to bring it to the Ford dealer.
well, $6,500.00 later I got it back with a coolant leak and it has no power now. The dealer said it is most likely the turbos have failed. they want me to bring it back for the coolant leak, but i may bring it to a local garage.
