It's a shift flare. Mine had it at around 10k. I went to the dealer and had TSB 11-10-15 performed on it and it doesn't do it anymore.

I wonder if anyone else can answer this question for me:

When I first bought my truck it was in the summer and plenty warm here - never had an issue and whatever gear the truck was in when I pushed down on the gas pedal it felt like the torque converter was locked in.

Now that it's cold in the mornings the tach flops all around in any gear giving me a driving impression of a standard 80's-90's automatic vehicle where the torque converter only locks up in overdrive on the highway.

I had a Chrysler that did this until the transmission fluid warmed up - my truck seems to do this too and only starts locking the torque converter once the fluid has warmed up. Anyone else see this too?

THANK YOU! Gonna take a ride over to the dealer now. This will be the trucks first time in so we will see how my dealer's service department performs!

How long does it do that? I found out by watching the trans temp gauge that it will not lock until the trans reaches 104 degrees.

Mine always has that weird half in gear feeling as soon as it goes into third then bogs down a tiny bit when it fully engages. Today tho was different. I got off the highway shut my truck off. Was in the store for ten minutes. Start it up it shifted to third but with a huge! Flare. First time it ever did that. It shot to about 2500 for a split second then right away went into third. I was like what the f***. Anyone had that split second flare?

Bogging is a sign of holding a gear. Making revving noises without acceleration is slipping.

Just got my 2011 Lariat out of the dealership Friday for the same issue. Here is what they did. "We reflashed the PCM to clear the trans shift patterns so it can relearn how you drive the vehicle" You know what they say about "SOME THINGS ARE TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE" In this case this is exactly what it is. The transmission is doing the exact same thing it did when I brought it in. Makes me wonder if the Trans Specialist even test drove the vehicle when he finished. Disappointed to say the least. Other than this issue, love the truck.Looks like we will be going in again very soon!

Yeah let me kno how that goes. They say it takes about thirty restarts for the reflash to take affect.
