I can't remember which colours (but purple and brown come to mind) I used in the wiring but a quick Google will tell you, as well I used the passenger side wiring as it unlocks on the second click of the key fob or after hitting the 3/4 button on the keyless entry. Between the power lock in the tailgate and the keyless entry I only need my keys when actually going to drive the truck. I can't remember the last time I used my key in the tailgate, has to be a few years ago.

Use the strapping provided to bridge between some sheet metal and then it mounts to the strapping. Been quite a while since I did one so I can't remember exactly but I did three different trucks in the 2011-14 generation and it was straight forward once you removed the panel on the tailgate and lined up the actuator so it would pull in the right direction and angle.
