Default Tailgate Binding

I was pulling some branches with my F150 and had a rope running from the branches over the lowered tail gate and tied to the tie downs in the bed. After I did that it the tailgate binds up when opening and closing. I can actually open the tailgate 1/4 of the way and it will stay in that position without falling. Did I bend the tailgate when pulling the branches? They weren't very heavy maybe 20-30 lbs. Any ideas?

Check the clearance around the tailgate. When the tailgate is open you can bend the side of the beds to adjust clearance. Good old american truck.

You really should have used the hitch. The tie downs in the bed are just that. TIE DOWNS!

I can't see how the tie downs would hold enough of a load that would bend the tailgate. I would remove the tailgate and check the hinge points and the lower edge of the bed for debris. Maybe a branch is wedged in there and is rubbing.
