The tire on the truck looks like 265? If so -by the math the truck tire is only 1.5" taller than the spare.

What size tire came with the truck? The factory tire size is identified on the driver door sticker (jamb).
255 65 17 is what the sticker says..

Ahh, looks like you got the smaller wheels/sizes on there, i'm pretty certain my spare matches my factory sizes though.

Larger ones in use and a smaller one on the spare .

However, the good news on the tyre front is that dropping down to the 255 size as per the truck sticker the cost of the new tyres has almost halved

Ha, yeah and tyre prices are going nuts right now, usual problems of the last year plus some plantation bug issue.

I'm 99% certain the spare should match the rest of the factory tyre sizes, mine does exactly at 275/65/18.

Mathematically, the spare is 1/4" taller than the door sticker OEM size.
30.05 vs 30.29 inches or 76.33 vs 76.93 cm.

The good news, if you do need to get into your tailgate latching mechanisms, is that once that panel on the tailgate is removed, there's plenty of room to work in there. Due to plastic retainers, it's not unusual to have to adjust the rod adjustment every now and then.
