Default SYS off to save battery??? what gives????

So I get home from work yesterday and as soon as I turn the key off the radio immediately turns off and I get “sys off to save battery” across the top of the radio, and start getting warnings in the dash LCD “turn power off to save battery” and then a giant red battery display in the LCD.

WTF gives here????? I started it back up ran it a few minutes and turned it off 3-4 times and kept getting the same results???

It was charging at 14.6V according to my multi meter. So this morning it was 14 degrees outside and it turned over just fine, I figured it would be dead this AM??? Drive to work today and when I got here and turned it off the radio stayed on and no warning this time????

A little history, truck is bone stock, no aftermarket items electrically either tied into the truck. The radar detector and GPS get unplugged from the cig lighter every time i park the truck also. The truck has 4000 miles on it now, at 750 miles I go out one day and it wont even unlock its so dead….. I charge it get it running and it runs fine up to 1200 miles, then out of the blue so DEAD again it wont even unlock??? Ford replaced the battery, said bad cell. They replaced it with a Motorcraft MAX battery

Now here we are 3000 miles later and I’m getting warnings, WTF is with this truck? I’m starting to regret my first ford truck purchase, every day I go to get in it I wonder of this $42k truck will start up or not?? My 10 year old GM truck never left me stranded once, the new ford has twice already in less than 4 months, and now that I’m getting warning lights I bet its not to long till it dies again… messed up part is back at the 750 and 1200 miles battery issues those warning lights never came on?

So any ideas what is up with this truck??

Hopefully some of the Northerners will pop in here. I have heard it's a cold issue, not sure. Never had it happen to my truck though, hope we can help you figure it out!

mine did this when i unhooked my battery to do the exhaust. it was a glitch in the system. ford just had to hook it up to thier computer and reset it. it's worked great ever since. you could try unhooking the battery to reset it yourself. mine had to get taken in.

I get that every time I have changed my tune. After a couple cranking cycles it will go away. My nav screen also says going into power saving mode and shuts off. I had a code come up for it....something about battery saving relay. I read that if it goes bad it will drain your battery. Anyway, good luck.

Why would you need to unhook your battery to install an exhaust?

Had the same issue on both my 2011 and 2012 trucks. I've unplugged this Eliminator charger I had plugged into the 12V and haven't had it happen since.
