Hi Jaclyn, had the sync maintenance update message a few days ago too on my 2013 Fusion hybrid. Only lasted about 30 seconds. Not sure which number you needed so here is a link to 2 screenshots:

Sorry, newbie here. Thought I was sending a PM to Jaclyn. Don't know how to delete the post and PM instead.

So what is the process to install any updates or does it do it automatically?

Thanks!

It does not do it automatically. You first need to create a MySync account. you can go to https://support.ford.com/tools/account/login

From there you can check your current version and see if there is an available update. If so you'll need to install the update on a flash drive. Then you'll plug your flash drive into your USB in the truck.

The instructions are very clear and will walk you through easily.

Hey, Ken -

Thanks for the pictures, that makes it easy.

Your CCPU number (12285) indicates you're on software version 3.5.1. Therefor, you have an update available. Log in to your SYNC owner account and click on UPDATE SYNC SOFTWARE to get started. You'll need an empty USB that isn't password protected.

Here are the instructions for downloading and installing:

Hey, Scotsskier -

TheKid25 is spot-on; if you need any more information, don't hesitate to give me a shout.

I know this is an old thread but it is the closest to my issue I have found.
My 2013 F-150 SYNC is doing the "routine maintenance" about twice a day.
I'm getting tired of it.
1: How to I find my SYNC version?
2: How do I upgrade if possible?

Your Sync version is somewhere in the settings or information section, i believe. If you go onto the Ford Sync website, you can enter your VIN and it will tell you if you can update or not. You are probably due for one. Mine was doing that too, fixed it when i updated it.

My 2015 f150 started doing this about 2 months ago. It does it every single time I start my truck. Every single time. I've installed the most recent sync update available and it made no difference. It still does it every time I start my truck and since it started doing this my bluetooth will not turn on either
