Default sync plus subs

i just want to replace my subs in my truck and i have the sony 8 inch stock woofer and the double cab, but i want to keep everything the same just take out the sony and put in a new one and not have to touch anything else and leave all the sync stuff the same. Any suggestions for how to do this, sizes and subs that i can tuck away under the back seats? and i am on a tight budget

I completely agree! I have been trying to find a way to do the same now for awhile. I'm fine with the rest of the system, but the sub is not very consistent and not big enough for the truck. I am about to take it to my local audio shop and see what they can do.

Would like to know if anyone has already found a solution though.

Bump for this, I've been looking for an answer to this also. I have a '10 platinum with the sony system... the rest of the system is decent but the sub is weak. Want the factory look but better bass.

The subwoofer in my 2010 F-150 Platinum with Nav/SYNC with the 700W Sony amp is kind of weak. It could use a better subwoofer. Especially when considering that it is part of a $2,300 option.

If anyone has a solution for better subwoofer response that doesn't mess up the existing factory installation, I'd like to know about it.

I don't want to mount a subwoofer in the bed of the pickup, although the bass response would be awesome.

I've got a G-Logic sub built specifically for the F150 from my '04 (ready to be installed into my '10 when it warms up) but no idea how to wire/ swap out the factory amp for a more powerful one. I too have the Sony Nav system which I'm keeping in my dash.

I ordered a 10" sub box from supercrewsounds.com and just received my Infinity Reference 10" (4.5" mounting depth) and Infinity 1300 mono amp. I had Best Buy run the wires while they installed my Viper 5901...they only charged $30 because I didn't have the equipment. They tapped in to the factory sub wires for RF out. I plan to hook up everything as soon as the box is delivered and will post results ASAP.

Never can understand why car companies charge soo much for the "Premium" systems in some sort of $2,000 + package, and they are never what they are made out to be. My wifes Enclave has the nicest sound system Buick offers and even it is just ok, nothing special and surely lacking in the bass. Whats funny is a guy can go spend $400-$500 and end up with a better sounding system than the ones they want $2,000 + for from the factory. I just did!...grin

Thats why you dont pay for the upgraded system from the factory. They always suck and you spend a fraction of the price for better quality on aftermarket equipment. I will never buy a Nav unit from factory either. So many betters options out there that are cheaper.

I would be able to help you out on the wiring better if I had an F150 right now but am waiting til the end of the year to purchase. But you should be able to tap into the wiring for the stock amp and sub and replace the equipment with better ones. Not sure on the gauge of wire that comes stock, so you might have to upgrade that.
