Default sync with Nexus 5

I was going to tag this onto the "sync won't default to bluetooth" thread but I know some people would say it doesn't belong so here is my question. Is anyone using a Nexus 5 with regular sync? Any problems? What works and what doesn't? Thinking of switching to that from an iphone since the text notification doesn't work with iphones. I have heard conflicting reports so I was hoping to find someone with first hand experience. I appreciate the help.

Co-worker has one in his F-150 and it works great. But may I ask what you mean by "regular sync"? His is a 2013 with MFT but no Navigation.

When you pair the phone with the truck it will prompt your phone for two different permissions. Once for the MAP messaging (texts) and the other is for your phone book and call history. As long as you say OK to both of those, you should be good.

I mean non my ford touch. I just have regular old sync, 2011 xlt. That is good that it works at least with my ford touch but I don't think that's a guarantee that it will work with basic sync. Thanks for the reply though.

Well I did have a 2011 with the basic sync / no Nav and had no issues. On the 2011 model you have to enable MAP within the stereo itself in order for it to read text messages to you. It took a little bit to get that part working but enabling MAP on the stereo is what allows it to recognize and read texts to you.
