Sync is a disappointment
I found it. It is on https://secure.syncmyride.com/Own/Mo...ent/Login.aspx. Once you log in it tell you if there is any updates. There seems not to be any for my truck. The last update was in 2010 but I have Gen1 version of Sync.
It works perfectly fine with my 3 year old iphone4. Changing the voice control-interaction mode from novice to advanced made a huge difference for me. No more "sync, please state a command" It just beeps and is ready for a command. I think the main issue with sync is people aren't properly shown how to use it at the dealer and don't quite understand how it works. I have no issues.

With that being said I'd make sure you have the most up to date software from syncmyride.com If so try deleting and re-adding your phone. Also doing a master reset under system settings generally helps. good luck
Has nothing to do with your carrier or Siri. All phones have a high return rate when they are used for music-no matter who makes them or who sells them. Do some research.

Does anyone else think the Ford sync sucks? I have an iPhone and it has a hard time with the phone calls and music. My wife has a 2012 outback and she has no problems with it. So far it has failed to recognize my phone a few times, doesn't know the commands I tell it and half the time it will play the music though the phone instead of the stereo.
Mine works fine. Only locks up from time to time with my old ipod classic. I just switch over to sirius and then back to usb and it works fine. Thats my only annoyance with it. Does it once every other week or so. My S2 and S3 Galaxy phones never have any issues so I can't speak on the iphone.

Had a nice lockup event today. Drove to the store, got back in and it didn't turn on. Restarted, still nothing. Drive for a few minutes and it rebooted with the maintenance message. Second time in two months.
I would have to guess it is your phone. My wife and I just switched to iphone 4s's and she had a HTV EVO design and in her Focus with MFT she had the wind tunnel noise. Now with her iphone I can not tell she is even in her car. Is your Sync up to date. One of the updates to MFT did help improve the noise, but it was still there. The phone switch completely cured it.
I have no problem with the Sync system in my truck. Here is what I recommend:
1. Make sure your phone has all the latest updates.
2. Read all the reference material for your model of phone and be sure you understand it. Do not consider info from forums such as this as proper reference materials (sorry everyone). The poster may have a different model of phone or may not understand how to use it properly. If you have an iphone, get the info from Apple, Galaxy info from Samsung, etc.
3. Make sure Sync has the latest updates installed.
4. Take the time to learn the system in your truck.
I am sure this will cure the vast majority of complaints about this system. Numbers 1 & 3 are crucial and numbers 2 & 4 cause the biggest headaches.
Just my 2 cents.
