Sync is a disappointment
Nope, I didn't drink the Kool-Aid. Most of my friends tried Iphone and are now running Galaxy S3 & 4's and won't go back. My home PC (Lenovo) has never had any kind of issue and kicks ***. Not to mention, I have a very sour taste in my mouth for Apple. When they are/were the richest company in the world and still moved operations/assembly out of AMERICA for cheap foreign labor, I said f*ck off. They were making money hand over fist and still decided to fire people...bad move. I LOVE how Google (Android) treats employees and will support that brand until I see otherwise. Just like COSTCO, I will shop there forever, until they start mistreating employees. I'm so glad to see the new CEO keep the same mantra going as the last CEO. Sam's club can go Kiss my Azz
As for SYNC it has worked flawlessly with my nexus tablet for 27k miles... then suddenly it decided to stop working (wtf)... but i think it might be a hardware problem maybe a reflash is needed... sync would not boot up this morning on my way to work.
Have you attempted the battery disconnect reset? I haven't had any trouble like that thus far, but I've read that when it starts locking up constantly or refusing to even boot up, a battery disconnect reset seems to resolve the issue.
If that isn't fixing it, then you most likely need a full reflash. There could also be some hardware issues. I found a thread a while back that showed how to watch the diags from the Sync system on boot. I'll see if I can find it again.
Here are the steps for the Sync w/Nav system:
-Turn key on
-Put radio on AM
-Press and hold the 3 & 6 preset buttons together for approx 3-5 secs
-- The first test will be speakers, it only lasts a few seconds. Beyond that you get a bunch of options to test including viewing DTCs and seeing how many satellites you are connected to. I'd say run through the diags and see what comes up.
Hopefully this helps you out. I couldn't find the detailed post that included screen grabs, but those are the steps. I'm including the MFT steps just for posterity.
MFT steps:
-Turn key on
-Put radio on AM/FM
-Press and hold the eject button + right arrow on wheel for approx 12secs (alternatively use eject and seek).
----I can't confirm the MFT steps but that's what I've read elsewhere. Just putting it here for interested parties.

Same here I've had Sync since the first versions of it and over the past few years it's been pretty much flawless. The only one I have hard time with is the MFT with Nav. All the other systems work great. My phone always connects, always plays, commands work, etc. Like I said the only one that gives me a little headache is the MFT with built in Nav. Not sure why. I have the MFT in my '13 without Nav and it works great. The ones that really never have a problem is anything with Sync that IS NOT My Ford Touch lol. My '12 F150 with the standard system also worked great. Seems the Nav units suck.
Pandora works fantastically via the USB. Which is what I said. I don't have MFT. I have sync w/ Nav. As for working via bluetooth. I can set the stereo to bluetooth input and play pandora/itunes. It is weak sound (b/c of bluetooth's handling of sound) and you can't fully control Pandora. Near as I can tell the Sync Mobile Apps are more meant to be used via USB.
I found the same thing in my truck listening to music via the BT connection....it just seemed kind of flat and soulless. That's why I switched to USB.
It's a drag about Pandora for you. I'm out of ideas other than the Aux (A/V) jack input using the headphone out from your phone.
Got it. That's a bummer.
