My Sony radio with Sirius Travel Link blows SYNC out of the water.

Maybe I'm missing some good mobile apps?

The health report thing was interesting, but...eh...overall, I'm not impressed.

Like I asked, am I missing something????
You're not listening to Sync, so your question doesn't really make sense. Are you talking about bluetooth audio streaming, satellite radio, terrestrial radio, USB MP3s, CDs, line in audio, or what? Each has their own pros and cons and sound quality that has nothing to do with Sync software.

If indeed you are talking about bluetooth audio, I find it to be excellent in my truck. Better than satellite radio which sounds like crap thanks to Sirius compressing the hell out of their signal.

I'm with you on that one. Siruis' bitrate is awful. Bluetooth doesnt compress at all, so you get the full bitrate of your MP3s.

Well, like I said maybe I'm missing something. I access SYNC through the services menu of my display. It dials some unknown number and gives me options for traffic and useless things like horoscopes and stock quotes. The sound is horrible.

I play Bluetooth audio through my Sony system, sound is wonderful, as is the nav system and phone features. My Sony system just makes SYNC feel so old and useless.

In my opinion, its just a waste being installed when the Sony system is also there.

I've only had my truck for a few weeks, but I gotta say I love my Sync. I have 6 months worth of Sirius, but I spend most my time listening to Pandora and iHeart radio and the sound is awesome! The voice command is very responsive and in my opinion it's even a better system than the one my wife has in her BMW.

I love my new truck but Sync and I are not getting along so well. I just got rid of an 08 Jeep with Uconnect and nav and I have to say that sync sounds like an 80's speech synthesizer compared to the older dodge and I miss having all of my music on the hard drive and a touch screen to navigate it all (didn't pay for nav this time). Uconnect had its issues but I liked it better than sync.

I think I am going to buy a second USB cable for my phone and a holder for it so I can just use it's touchscreen and basically bypass sync.

Rather than you read a 70page thread, Ill sum it up for you buddy...

I would just walk into the part section at the dealership and say you need a new sync cable.

Then when you remove rubber center piece on your dash, 2 7mm screws and Youll see the two ports with a mirror.
(if you just want to push the AUX button to get music rather than deal with sync and say "usb2")

I recommend, that you unplug the factory cord, use a buck knife to share off the opposing corner of the plugin so you can plug it into port 2, and then just simply plug your new cable into the port 1, and fish it towards your glove box. Then, open your glove box, push the two tabs in so you can finish fishing your cable to the glove box.

Put it all back together, and find a flash stick and format it "fat 32". And youre Good to go.

I recommend a Good usb2.0 64Gb stick.
(even on a 24 hour road trip, 64Gb is big enough for me)

Also works on nav decks if you have one.

I think a nav deck also has a 10Gb jukebox for extra ripping.

Thanks, I have an 8gb stick now that if I can get working and like how it works with sync I might do that. When I plugged it in earlier the lovely lady from Microcrap bitched about protected content and wouldn't play anything. I don't get this because I ripped all of this music on a Linux system that won't do protected music and rights management. Once I figure that out I will wire up a stick as well as a slick gps install. I decided against a built in GPS because of how much the updates cost for my jeep. For the price of one update I can buy a GPS with bluetooth and life time free updates.

Im here with you man....

Remember i said "format the flash drive to ""fat32"" ?

You need to format the stick in that form, then it will play properly. It messed me over too man, took a bit of figuring it out...

I use a 8Gb too in my glovebox, i dont have much music overall.

As for the GPS, i kinda gotta agree... But, i got another (much cheaper) option for you.

In Canada, there is a law called "distraction law" pretty Good fine, if you get pulled over. Anyways if you hold your phone or any other device in your hand, boom! Fine time.

Anyways, rather than getting a big nav system in my dash, i got a new cell phone!

Iphone 4s and galaxy s2 (and s3) have a "navigation" app.

Yes it does pull off your data when in use(But i Only turn it on if Im in a big big city) and then pair the phone to the truck over Bluetooth.

In short, directions to my destination are read to me over my stereo. Yea i dont get to listen to music while Im doing it, but the way i see it is that if i need to be focused on where i am and where Im going, then music is just going to annoy me and distract me into making a wrong turn.

And yes i know i gotta hqve cell service for it to work, but the Only time i think a GPS would really be used, is when youre in a town where you dont know... And i just remembered, my system forces me to pull over and check the map, and then i can listen to where i need to go.

Its also turn by turn accurate for me.
