No ma'am. I have not. Haven't had the time. It's been easier to pull the fuse, but it is getting more and more aggravating.

larryo108,

I recommend visiting the dealer when you get a chance. You can also mention it during your next scheduled maintenance. Pulling the fuse should not be a monthly task.

The only way for me to make sure mine doesn't get stuck is to turn off bluetooth on my phone before I shut off the truck. If I leave BT on and active, and turn off the head unit while it's still connected, I can guarantee that it'll be frozen next time I fire up the truck.

All of that said, about every month on the money, the bluetooth deactivates itself and the only way to fix it is to pull the fuse. I always try a master reset first and it never works. I have even tried reinstalling the V4.4 update AFTER a master reset hoping that maybe something had gotten corrupted with the initial install. Still didn't fix it.

This issue is infuriating and makes me want to go and replace the stereo with my credit card right now.
Sometimes the cellphone does an update and messes it all up.

I have the basic Sync system in my 2014 XLT. I formatted my USB drive to FAT32 and put the software update files on it (107MB). When I plug it into my truck, it says no media files.

It says online the drive must be capable of storing at least 2GB but mine is 1.85GB. Will it not detect a device if it is too small, or is it because it needs that additional space to perform the update?

I'm a sucker for wanting to have everything updated and now its bugging me.

If you're following the instructions on for the latest update on the ford site, they are wrong. I can't remember the correct steps off the top of my head but you need to hit the menu button and go to install application and it will do it from there.

I agree, it should not. But I rarely go to the dealer. I am out of warranty on my truck and I don't have the time or money to spend for them to do what I have already done.

Hi esb281,

The USB drive must have at least 2GB of space. Additional space is needed to perform the update.

larryo108,

I understand. Keep me posted if you decide to go in the future.

Definitely just go buy a cheap 8GB thumb drive. Don't need one with all the security features. Just a nice, new clean one. I actually bought another 16GB (PNY brand) for $12.
When you downloaded the update to your pc. Did you unzip/extract the files, before you downloaded them to your memory card?
