you're correct.. I plugged in both my iPhone and the USB stick and neither was noticed. I guess it's either providing 5V or 12 for the required power.. I might just hack up the cable I've already got...
I do have one more question though.. My backup camera looks really poor compared to how it looked with the old Sync 2 system.. On Sync 3 the picture looks incredibly washed out -- like it was foggy outside.. It worked fine with the old system.. thoughts??

Not sure mine seems to be just like before no difference.
Below are my forscan changes from the conversion to Sync 2 to Sync 3. Everything works great after allot of trial and error. Hopefully this will help some of you when making the change. I am pretty sure I typed everything correct but if you encounter an error let me know. Also write each block at a time do not try to do them all at once.

Mine does it all the time.. since I have to take my dash apart one more time to install a new gps antenna, maybe I’ll put the old sync2 system in and take pics from both at the approx same time so you can see the vast differences.. it’s so huge a difference.
How did you come up with those Block 1 thru Block 7 Forscan settings? The spreadsheet doesn't detail any of the APIM settings other than the nav in motion/country code. I know you said trial and error- did you start with 2015+ F150 code?

I also owned a 2018 Raptor so I had that backup,. I now have a 2019 Raptor with that backup. I bought a APIM from a 2017 Lariat with navigation that I also used to get things. So between the spreadsheets all the backups, other forum members I got to what I am using.
Stupid question -- I can't find an answer to.. I'm trying to get my Sync 3 (version 2.3) to update to version 3.0...
I've tried formatting the USB stick as ExFAT and also NTFS and loading the latest download from the Ford owners site using the VIN from the 2016 Escape that my APIM/Screen came from. However, the APIM never notices it -- I've taken a 1 hour drive and nothing. Is it the case that since I tried a WIFI update check yesterday that it won't bother even trying an update even if its under its nose? Should I take it to the dealer or just leave the USB drive in there and pray that it decides to chew on it some day in the future?
As someone who's developed software for all my life, I can't understand how they got this messed up.. It ought to be so easy! ugg!
