Don't know what happened but my text messages started coming through my Sync all the sudden. Maybe a iPhone update? I haven't updated the Sync.

I can have it read them when they come in. It even interpreted "lol" and said "laughing out loud"! It logs them and if I'm not driving it will let me respond.

It worked in my first 2013 and then stopped for no reason one day. In my new 2013 it never worked and then started the other day.

I know you must have the notifications turned on in Bluetooth under Sync on the iPhone but I never turned it on or off. It's been on for maybe 4 years now.

Only thing I can think is I had my usb cable connected when I got a text the other day and it somehow kicked it off to work again. Today it worked while only connected by Bluetooth and it worked.

Anyone else with an iPhone have theirs working?

The same thing recently happened to me. After the Sync update it turned on and worked fine for months then one day it quit working. I figured it was because of an Apple update that I did. Then about two months ago out of the blue it worked again. It always notified me on screen and would read them to me but it would not let me reply by talking and now it does.
I've been disregarding my newest updates on my iPhone 6plus because I don't want to screw up what's working now. I'm worried if I do the latest Apple update the Sync won't work again.

iPhone 6S Plus here with all of the latest iOS updates. I've not had issues with my Sync connectivity via text notifications nor BT connectivity in general. However, after each iOS updates I re-pair the device to the truck which may help reset the settings.
'13 with MFT and the 8" screen.

I've never been able to get my text messaging and sync to work on my '13 Limited! I've always thought it was a load of crap that the Iphone6 and top model of the F150 wouldn't do voice texting when my buddy has a '14 F150 with just a base radio in it and his voice texting works perfect.

Message notifications must be ON in the sync phone menu.
MAP Profile must be ON in System setting ADVANCED in sync menu.

Texts must be able to show up in locked screen on iphone.
In the iphone under... Settings/Notication Center/ Messages/ Show in lock screen must be on.
Sync will only notify you when one comes in if iphone screen is locked.

Mine stopped for a few weeks after I turned the show in locked screen setting off. Now it works again after turning that back on.

Mine still won't do it have an iPhone 6 but my truck has basic sync so probably why I've tried and it says unsupported

What is the year and model of your vehicle, and have you tried the steps provided by me and swilky2000? The text feature will work as long as SYNC software is at 3.2. or higher and the iPhone's settings are correct.

haven't look at it since I saw the steps I don't even remember what version sync I have I looked at one point said my phone didn't support text but I'll give it a try it's a 2012 f150 fx4 basic sync no touch

3 YEARS of no sync text messages because I hadn't flipped one little notification button!! I feel like such an idiot! Thanks so much for the advice!! IT WORKS!!!
