Default superbumper

i looked around and didn't see anyone offering a comment on them. search yielded no results, so i went ahead and gave it a shot.

seems very well constructed, and attaches with minimal fuss.

you do need grease, a towel and a ratcheting strap, but otherwise, a very simple, quick install.

No offense but I can't really see the point of such a contraption.

no offense taken. i saw the link at the side of this page, and just looked it over.

knowing that the manufacturer would inflate claims slightly, for sales purposes, i took things with a grain of salt.

having said that, what i saw made sense. and i know for a fact that our bumpers aren't 2.5mph compliant, so i didn't see a way that this would hurt. as much of my driving is urban and suburban with poor parking evident, i felt that this might be a worthwhile investment to protect my new ride.

the photos above are without the ball on the bumper- the kit included one, but i haven't yet put it on.

In a rear end accident, you will now transmit the impact directly to the frame of the truck instead the bumper/shock absorber first.

So you bend your frame instead of your bumper, yeah that's what I want.

Oh so it's just in case someone rear ends you? I'd rather replace a bumper than have that thing on there all the time, especially if you ever tow anything and you have to remove it to put a hitch receiver in.

The reason I'm driving an'10 is because some guy rear-ended my98 and tagged me square on the hitch receiver. As was said, all energy was directed directlyto the frame, bending it on both sides. Result...totaled Truck. This truck did not have a dent or scratch.I really hated to lose it that way. So if you want to have to replace your truck when your hit...this thing will help. I'd rather be able to fix mine. Bluebook will never usually equal what your truck is worth TO YOU.....my 2 cents

i hadn't visited this thread since my second comment, and missed some of the communication that took place after wards.

as i park quite often in urban settings, i can now confidently say that i made the right choice here. i do my best to park away from people, or at the very least, ensure that i'm centered and in my spot (not with the rear end of this cruise ship protruding into the space behind me).

there are two scratches on my superbumper, one received just this week when a kid in a corolla didn't hit his brakes as fully as he should have. the tap was actually kinda minor, and my truck has zero damage, but his front bumper, license plate, and some of his grille incurred a good whack.

this thing paid for itself in that instance.

just out of curiosity, what do you think that the bumper of your truck is attached to?
