I have a 2013 XLT. I have already replaced the stock speakers with infinity reference speakers and that helped the sound greatly. I'm thinking about adding a kicker hideaway powered subwoofer. I don't know anything about sound systems, will the kicker improve the sound much? Is the installation very difficult?

 

I am running one single L7 Solo Baric 8 inch Kicker woofer with a 500 watt amp. Tons of bass out of a little woofer.

Well we don't know your skills. I worked at a stereo shop in high school and it's not very complicated, but can be tedious and frustrating if you are impatient and don't know what you are doing.

Understanding how to use a multimeter and the learning the basics of 12v voltage theory are good starting points.

 

I wouldnt go with the kicker man, I used to rum them back in the day but once I used a real audio brand Ill never go with their subs again. A sundown sd2 8" sealed on a ct sounds 500.1 will impress the hell out of you for the price and size of the setup

 

I do have basic electronic theory knowledge and can use a multimeter, but what I dont know is audio theory and installation. Specifically, I assume I'll have to run power and ground lines but Im not sure exactly how to get the signal inputs into the sub. From what I understand the 4.2" stereo does not have any RCA outputs so how can I wire it in?

 

I really want to keep it simple and Im not looking to rattle the doors, I just want to get a nice clean sound. Thats why Im looking at a powered subwoofer....and I want to keep the price low.

 

I hate kicker. But an L7 Solo Baric is a little different than their base model ****.
