Default Striping chrome grill?

Has anyone striped the chrome off their grill so it can be painted the body color? I found that houehold bleach does fine taking chrome off automotive plactic, but I personally have never done it. I hate the looks of the large chrome grill on this body style F150, its to much, thats why I want to go for the FX4 look. If anyone has done it I would like to see a few pictures. I just have trouble shelling out $450 for an OEM FX4 one.

I've had a couple done now and chrome bumpers also . Sand it really well with 280 grit then make sure it gets sealed with a good primer like DP50. Mine have held up quite well and I just did this to my grill two weeks ago on my platinum

I did a pseudo write up on how, and posted a video of me testing the adhesion to the chrome. When i find it, I'll post it up here for you

Haha thx but I don't deserve the credit. That belongs to ppl like you who actually did the research and testing. All I originally did was google it and forwarded the info to my painter.

DOT4 Brake fluid is awsome for removing chrome plating it takes a week or so of letting sit but it will strip everything without damaging the plastic. Google it youll see

The prob with that is the oil does absorb into the plastic and slowly leaches back out preventing long term adhesion

You could get the grille from keystone or certifit pretty cheap and just paint that one. The chrome plated plastic is just a film, I would be worried it would peel off. I've seen the inside door handle chrome peel off like paper.
