Default Stopping the spread of rust

Been looking for a cheaper low milage 2010 f150 for awhile. Found this one. Only thing wronge with it is that rust spot. Is there an easy way to stop it from spreading or to fix it? I'm in kentucky, far from any oceans, or salt. But the truck is from the north, hence the rust. Any help is appreciated. Dont know much about this stuff. Just don't want to buy it and have a rust bucket on my hands in a couple years.

That's some serious rust, no quick/cheap fix. It needs to be cut out and replaced. Fix it right and fix it once.

It will spread regardless of salty roads, if you want cheap short term, sand and coat with POR, but it's only gonna slow it down, it's not a fix.

I live in Kentucky, salt would be one cause of that rust

Doesnt look like it would be too expensive to have the rocker panel replaced. The truck is listed a good 4 grand under kelly blue book. Might be able to talk them down a little more too.

You'd want to put that truck up on a lift and get a good look underneath it, chances are the rust is more serious than you realize. I would personally use an inspection camera to see up to the top of the rear wheel wells, inside the bottom of the front fenders, inside the rockers, and inside the doors at a minimum. You might be surprised to see how much of the inside of these areas looks like what you're seeing on the outside of the rocker. Once you start sanding down rust you typically find that you only saw the tip of the iceberg and need to do far more work that you planned on.

Had the rockers replaced on my 13' for $1200 cash out the door. The rust on mine came from the latch for the back suicide door. That one looks like it might be coming from the third hi mount brake light since its closer to the cab corner. I also noticed a nice dent above the door on the roof.

If he's asking that far below market might be worth it. Check everything real good though.

Any chance you can let me know who did them for 1200? Im in Ohio too and would be up for a road trip at that price. I'm finding about three times that around me.

Since I went to reply to another thread, and ended up here... does anyone know if they make a por15 type product in an aerosol?

How much are you paying for this truck? I wouldn't even bother fixing it, honestly. It will likely look a little worse in 3-4 years.
