Default Steering Wheel Controls Not Working

Hello, name is Mike, First time poster, long time follower. This community is full of good information! I've researched my problem but haven't found any solid answers.

I have a 2011 F-150 XLT that I have been working on getting everything back in working order, it's been quite the process.

I'm on my last issue and hoping you guys can provide insight.

--

My truck has the factory radio with Sync. Nothing fancy. My problem is this...

The steering wheel controls for changing volume, pre-sets haven't worked since i've owned it.

Things done to date:

Replaced OEM Radio (it wasn't working when I bought it, dealer programmed it).
Replaced Steering Wheel Controls pack with a new one
Updated Sync to v4.6
Conducted Master Reset of radio
Factory Defaulted Radio
Pulled power from battery, waited a half hour, hooked back up

The old and new module would allow me to use sync and the phone controls but not the volume or pre-set.

I feel that the issue could be either with the wiring or that this module needs to be programmed by dealer but thats why i'm asking. The weird thing is all controls illuminate at night so it's getting power just not changing anything.

Thoughts? It's really annoying have to reach over to do radio stuff while driving..

Sometimes when its not the actual control which seems was already changed.

It is usually the clock spring in the steering where the wires come through. The wires become pinched.

So we're on the same page, they already changed this part?

Did you ever figure out what was causing your problem? I'm in the same boat, changed switch pack, clockspring, reset battery. Still no volume or skip buttons. Any help would be appreciated.

All my Buttons worked fine until I installed a new Raptor Wheel & ever since, the button with the phone icon, on the very bottom right, does nothing! Very annoying that I cant answer the phone from the wheel anymore, but thank goodness its just that 1 button, all the rest work perfectly... Good luck everyone in finding a solution!

Same as the others: my Volume and Skip buttons on the wheel don’t work, however the Sync and phone controls do. New OEM switch pack installed and no joy. I haven’t messed with the clock spring, but the last guy to revive this thread didn’t seem to have luck with that either. This seems to be a somewhat common issue so hopefully we’ll get lucky this time around. It’s a real head scratcher.

Default Steering wheel button fix

I hope this helps some of you, after replacing all the common parts, I found out the ACM in my truck had been replaced before I got it. I went to the motor craft service site to get the original programming info and used ForScan to check it against my truck. I found some of the hexadecimal codes were different, first one I changed back to factory fixed all my issues.

Here's the site to lookup your as-built data. https://www.motorcraftservice.com/AsBuilt
