update- I have gotten no where. the dealer says that the Ford hotline has not heard of anyone having this problem. I guess they do not look at the sticky thread on this site.

Called the regional guy from Ford back he is no help. I guess its time to get something else. I have owned 11 fords and this will be my last. kicker is now my dads is still in the shop and a coworkers is as well.

so has anyone got any info on the Tundras or the new GM's- makes me sick even thinking about getting one but what the hell do you do!

Oh, this is fantastic news. Mine is also going bye-bye if they can't/won't fix it. This truck has done it since it had 5000 miles and I'm tired of it. Hopefully the '13's have a different track record for this steering issue than earlier years, I want to stay with Ford.

I had the same problem. Took it to the dealer same response as you that the noise is normal. I told them if it was then it would have done it when I drove it off the lot. First they replaced some spring in the steering wheel. Didn't work. Second time and after one week the replaced the steering wheel, which solved the problem. That was last year and it's been ok since.

yeah I am a die hard Ford guy but I am fed up with this as well. mine has done it since around 10k now at 36k. I know Ford doesn't give a crap about me as they have proved that. i am worried that if I get a 13 in 6 months it will do the same.

I am going to drive a Tundra Friday and try the new GM stuff maybe if they ever get the 6.2 on the lots.

The tundras have terrible frames, they flex way too much, my friend has a brand new Chevy 1500 and he loves it.

I don't buy the frame thing. I know Toyota is used heavily by the offroad market.. maybe something to do with it.

I do like this... only truck to do so- Toyota began rating the Tundra under the SAE J2807 protocol beginning in 2010.[6]

I know somebody that had a tundra blow out the rear window from the bed flexing right into the cab! Every truck/car has issues...some are small, some are design faults. you have to decide if the issue is so big yuo cant live with it. If you dont drive your tundra hard, and leave it on flat pavement...it might last you long...BUt it def isnt better/stronger then the f150
