Default Squeaky tailgate

Hey y'all,
New owner of a 2012 lariat ecoboost here! Love every aspect about it minus the part where the tailgate rattles on every minor bump:/. I'm positive it is the tailgate about as positive that we skipped winter! But I just want to stop the squeaking it's driving me and everyone nuts!

If you push/pull on it while it's closed, is the movement?

If so, open it and adjust where the latches latch onto. There is one on each side and it takes a large torque nut to loosen.

Yes it's the noise it makes since their is slight movement when closed but thank you. I'll try this tomorrow morning and see if it's better.

Don't mess with the latches. I had the same problem. I put some grease on the latch and the bolt this week and it was gone instantly. I used marine grease because it is more resistant to water, so hopefully it will last longer.

If your tailgate has play in it you need to move the bolt that the latch latches on when closed. You dont want your tailgate bouncing around.

Greased mine and took care of it btw no play at all in mine as a matter of fact had to cut down the rubber stop a bit after I had my bed sprayed. It did it before and after and grease has always worked. I also had this issue on my 09 and grease did the trick there too.

Adjust your latches if it does have alot of play in it but a bit of WD40 also does the trick, spray it in the latches every once in a while and there should be no more squeaks.
