Default Spyder lights

Hi Everyone,

I want to change the look of my 09 Lariat. I like the look of the Spyder head, tail and fog lights. Has anyone installed these headlights and how did it effect your light projection at night?

I am not looking to retrofit or put $1100 into headlights. I respect those folks who do but I'm not that guy. I really want to go with a different look without negatively effecting light performance. Thanks in advance.

I installed the smoked version on my 2010. Even with the 5000k bulbs l, the light output was not enough. I installed a HID headlight kit and that greatly improved the light output.

Which HID kit did you install? Is it a straight forward install? Thanks.

I haven't used them but I know someone who has, he said he had a great experience with them. However I have known other forum users to say it took too long or they had sent the wrong parts. I have found a pair on ProTuningLabs.com that I really like and I may break down and get them even though I'd much rather have the new projection headlights from the 2013.

I have almost the same setup, just not chrome. I used 35 watt 5000k HID lights from the retrofit source. Light output is phenomenal, with a sharp cutoff. Very happy with the performance. Paid $225 for the lights and $150 for the hid kit. However, adjusting the projector on the low beam is a real pain in the *****. You have to remove the entire light to get to the adjustment screws. Worth it for the end result.

I forgot to add, the lights you have a link to are the ones with the LED halo, not CCFL. The LED Halo is not as bright as the CCFL units. Just something to consider....

I bought my hids from hidnation.com. The install wasn't too hard, once they emailed me the correct install instructions.

I bought some on ebay for my ranger with hid's preinstalled. I didnt have any issues with them. I kinda wish I had some on my F150.

Like rtpjunior, I have a similar setup, however my set came with the CCFL halos and pre-installed HID lows. The ballasts, bulbs and harness are garbage! They flickered, bounced and fluttered like a biatch - even with anti-flicker capactitors. Then I discovered The Retrofit Source - just got the new bulbs, ballasts and relay installed yesterday and no more flicker.

If you are thinking of going HID, I would highly recommend a kit from TRS - a little more expensive, but definitely worth it!

Thanks for all the replies. I was considering the Spyder set-up for the easy of installation on the YouTube site. It was not until I talked to people here that I realized I would not to do wire work to get the helo/LEDs to work properly.

Not sure I want that box, I guess it a ballast, hanging in my bumper. For now, I am going to pop for the tail lights and interior LEDs. Thanks for all the information folks
