Which speakers did you replace your Sony speakers with?
Looking for those who just straight replaced their Sony door speakers and got a noticeable, worthy improvement in sound, what did you buy?
Infinity KAPPA-86CFX 6" x 8" Two-Way and Infinity Kappa 683XF seem to be potential replacements.

I installed the Morel Maximo Ultra 602 components in front and the Morel Maximo Ultra 602 coax in the rear. I bought them from Hush. I did use adapters with them. (speakers are round) I installed the speakers and was pleased with the sound. I drove around for about a month before I finally got around to installing the amp and sub woofer which were always part of the plan.

I will add this, I tried 3 different speakers on mine and I will not mention the other 2 but they are high on everyone's list for replacement but I do not have the HD radio (Canadian Truck) and the 1 set sounded awesome in a 2014 Tremor that did but still sounded weak in mine.
With that said just changing out speakers is not the magical cure for the Sony system, the Amp to me is puny and will not truly power a real good set of speakers.

Infinity Kappa 682.9cf back in 2014, no complaints, model no longer available, but I'm sure the Infinity Kappa's you mentioned are similar.

My only requirement is that it sounds decent in a vehicle. Too much other noise from driving to be overly worried IMO, although my 'decent' is a little higher level than most people. No need to blast all that loud for me, either. I had a couple speakers that were clearly damaged, otherwise I wouldn't have replaced anything. Quite happy with the Kappa 86CFX in all 4 doors. Theoretically I would like to delete the Sony dsp to improve the sound, the choices made by them in sound distribution are stupid, but the power is fine for me and I don't want to spend a couple grand on incremental sound upgrades in the truck. I did do the forscan adjustment to remove some of the dsp modifications.
For comparison: My audiophile world is all at home. Where my 'budget' 2 channel system purchased in roughly the same timeframe is over $3000 and I don't have a sub, yet. Then there's the 9.1 channel system....

Tried rockfords and they were terrible(wasn’t expecting much on a stock head unit), then tried Alpine r series on a recommendation and couldn’t be happier. Are there better out there, probably…. But theses work for me.

I'm only looking for speakers that will work on the otherwise stock Sony system, i too just want a sound improvement without spending a lot more by upgrading the rest of it.
If a set of speakers is great, but barely does anything on the stock Sony amp, then it's no good to me - i've seen several people note they can get a notable sound improvement by just replacing the speakers.
Spiky, i'm not familiar with the Forscan DSP changes...

I have an '11 Lariat Supercrew with the Sony and Nav system. In front I went with Pioneer ts-a1606c 6 1/2" 2-way componant speakers . In the rear I went with Pioneer TS-A6886 4-way 6"x8" speakers. I also changed the center dash speaker to a Pioneer ts-a878 3.5" 2-way. Some say to just leave it alone, but it helped with imaging for sure. I decided to try something different with the subwoofer. As strange as it may sound, I kept the sub enclosure, took out the Sony subwoofer and put in a Pioneer 8" shallow subwoofer in it's place. It was cheaper and easier for me to do. Overall the sound is much better. The mids and highs are clearer with less volume. I can use more volume and sounds much better. I keep the Base and Treble settings between 2-3 notches above center and modulate as needed. Not really more thumpy base, which I don't like any way, but a bit tighter with less volume. Base roll off is still there but I can add a notch to compensate on some songs. I put these in with the intention of eventually replacing the Sony amp, DSP and so on. Just haven't had the funds.
