FWIW, replaced my '14 Lariat speakers in 2017, used JBL from Crutchfield, in all 4 doors. Did not change the tweeters, they seemed okay. The factory speakers were Chinese $8.00 parts, as expected. I first used the Metra adapters, but had spotty connections/static. Solution was to just solder the wires directly to the speaker inputs, as I didn't anticipate a need to go back in after reassembly. It's just solder, after all. No more loose connections and the JBL speakers sound great, even with the factory head unit.

Added a Kicker Hideaway sub the next year, behind the left rear seatback. It added just enough enjoyable bass that was otherwise missing. No complaints and plenty of "wow, it sounds really good" from passengers.

My drivers side speaker literally came blown off the lot. I got it replaced under warranty and it lasted less than a month. Then I ripped everything out and put a full 5.1 Alpine system in it. I have a thread about it if you search my name.

may be worth isolating the speaker in question while the door panel is off, and check the wiring. Could be a “ no parts needed” fix (quote taken from Pine Hollow Diagnostics).
I think im going through the same thing, My driver side tweeter went and today my door speaker went and i can hear a crackle in on the passenger side! something seems fishy cant see all of them going at the same time

For anyone reading this, if you need to replace your speakers, here are my suggestions (I am pretty big into audio stuff).

Get a morel component set

Get a kicker key 200.4 mini amp (fits above the glove box / behind some radios)

You will not be sorry

For good prices hit up Bruce at @HushCarAudio

Just keep in mind it's not quite as easy if you already have the factory Sony system

not that much harder, just requires the pac amp pro interface. You can do Forscan mods, I did that, but don't suggest it for the ease and cost of the pac amp pro interface.

Yeah, i think cost was my factor, just wasn't worth it to me, along with the added conplexity.
