I went to the jl dealer by my house and the worker said the clean sweeps are junk cuz I was going to get one for my truck. He said they are hard to tune and they never hold the tune. Just save up and get a good head unit.

Thanks for all the helpful input. I'll wait until I can do everything at once and then I'll post pics of the setup!

Wow I would have never guessed that. I've always heard good things about them.

But yeah for the best sound quality I would just wait it out.

Yea I went into the jl dealer and said what I wanted to do and he said he doesn't even sell them anymore because there a pain to tune. He said to buy a head unit, then door speakers, then amp and sub and get a 5 channel to power the 4 door speakers and the sub. I really wanted to keep the stock head unit but he said he wouldn't even do a system if the stock head unit was still being used.

Keep in mind that the stock unit also alters the sound curve and adjusts the bass as you turn up the volume. This can all be over come but it is way easier to put in an after market HU. I really debated which direction to go for awhile and eventually put in a new DD HU and would never go back. It looks sweet and the funtions on it are way better, sure a thief could steal it but that's what insurance is for.

Look up the audio control lci2 < it takes care off all the bass problems and works great. but i know for a fact that getting a better head unit would be best, i just didnt have the option with the factory nav and sync.

but i dont remember who makes it but it was on ebay and it was new and everything, just go to ebay and look for 2009 ( because the newer the year the harder it is to find things but they are all the same in the back) and type in "sub box" or "sub enclosure" 12" f150.
