You can set it to m and use the toggle switch on the gear selector lever to manually control changes like a standard transmission.

Seems pointless to me though. I just use the toggle occasionally to lock it out of 6th occasionally. Consider it a gimmick.

not pointless at all, picture going downhill and being able to lock it in 3rd to stop accelerating and save on braking

in D push the plus button will show the gears 1-6 on display. you can see what gear your in....then you can also manually down shift/upshift as well... i've used it with the cruise on as well for hill climbs/descents..

But you don't need to put it on m for that. Just click down on the select shift button while I drive. That is just locking out gears. I maintain that manual mode is pointless.

It might be useful for somebody doing a pulling competition too. So there is that.

M for "Manual" I assume. I don't have that, but if you do I guess there is a -/+ shifter on the wiper lever someplace.

When you are at a stop sign move the gearshift lever to the M position. Then when you take off from the intersection you push the + on the rocker switch located on the gearshift lever to proceed through the gears like shifting a manual transmission.

When the lever is in the D position you can use the +/- rocker to 1) turn the numerical gear display on or off and 2) lock out gears from 6 on down. For example, when I tow my travel trailer sometimes I'll push the - on the rocker to only use gears 1 through 5.
