Default Snowmobile in bed

I'm looking into buying a snowmobile soon. Anyone here put them in their bed or are they mainly trailered?
I'm not sure how well length wise they'll fit. Any experiences or pictures are appreciated.

Depends on the bed size and snowmobile size, if you have a 5.5 bed and a long track I'd say trailer it.

I put my 2002 Yamaha VMax in the 6.5 bed and just leave the tailgate down. If you're looking at a newer model, then I'd imagine it will be quite a bit longer than my sled and you might need to trailer it.

You will be fine in a 6.5 or 5.5 foot bed.

I have a Renegade 1200 X from Skidoo and it hangs over the gate. BUT the majority of the weight is in the box. Yes it hangs off a bit but it doesn't move or tilt.

I also build a false floor/deck with ramps under it so I could unload/load anywhere. Haven't hauled my sled in the back of my new f150 yet as the snow melted really fast before my truck came in.

Here is a pic of my 06 f150 with a 6.5 foot bed and my sled in the back on the deck I built. I travel on the highway like this all the time and feel safe.

I have a summit with 154" track. In my 6.5' bed it fits fine with the tailgate down (sits about a foot past the tailgate). It's not an overly long track length by any means, so if you've got a 5.5' bed a trailer might be a better solution. But as snopro31 said above, the majority of the weight is in the front of the machine.

Usually haul ours in an enclosed when we head west or ride from the house if we ride at home here. A sled will fit in either lenght box with the tailgate down (heck in the 6.5 you can put the sled in the back with the tailgate up and tow a trailer behind it still). Most weight is on the front of the rails where the track first hits the ground and on the skis.

What kind of sled you getting? I am a diehard rider and absolutely am addicted to snowmobiling as a sport. Current sled is a 2011 Polaris Pro 155" with WE race exit shocks swapped in the front with Fox Evol custom setup for the rear, Power Addiction Racing head, a little porting, HPS exhaust and a ton of clutch work to get the power down.

2006 f7 in a 5.5 foot box with no problems! No trailer yet but trailers make it a lot easier to load/ unload

Thanks for the replies guys. This will be my first sled so new to this. I'll be riding w/my gf and her family who are avid riders who love arctic cat.
I'm looking both new and used but leaning towards used for first sled.

Been eyeing an 05 f7 and a few other arctic cats.

Truck bed is 6.5. They have a 35' enclosed trailer at there vt house so hopefully would only be moved few times a yr in truck.
