Default Size of the tires

I have a 2014 F150 4x4 scab with Eco boost with two towing packages (with 3.73 gear ratio) plus off-road package (I bought it used from a dealer) It was used in commercial for years in mountains. I am using it to tow my trailer with UTV on it. I would say I use the truck 85% highway, 10% city, and 5% gravel roads to reach the campsites. I used 4x4 3 times in 2 years, totaling under 1 mile. Currently, it get 12-14 MPG with those off-road tires.

The yellow sticker on a door jamb says LT245/75R17E 121/118R and the off-road tires on my truck shows LT265/70R17 121/118R.

I'm a bit confused related to the tire sizes. I wanted a set of tires that will give me a better gas mileage and quieter rides. Now, the question is what shall I get this size or that size???

The pic below shows your 2 different tire sizes. Basically same height but an inch difference in width.

going to the 245/75, narrower tire, plus a highway tread would give you better mpg.

I’d go back to the oem tire which on mine was Michelin’s, they rode real smooth and quite.

Another thought, take a look at the spare under the rear. Very, very possible that it is still one of the factory size/brand/model tire.

our trucks came with matching spares, even though the wheel was different.

Not much of a difference in the 2 sizes, personally the 265/70 is better option. You will not pick up any gas mileage that you could tell, it is wash considering it is tiny bit taller and wider. A highway tread tire will get better than a off road tire and little better than an All Terrain. Not going to get good mpg out of that truck, that is what my friends get out their trucks.

Mine did not, unless you are only referring to one spec. Wheels were 20", spare was 18". Wheels were P tires, spare was LT. Tire diameter was the same.

Looks like you have an XL trim, possibly with the HD package based on the door jamb stating LT tyres.

If you're only towing what you spec'd, and i'm guessing you're looking for new tyres at this point? just go for some P metric tyres, feel free to use the same tyres, you'll get better MPG with the narrower tyres and going p metric instead of LT will be better on MPG, far less unsprung mass due to LT's normally being much heavier tyres, and the F150 does not require LT tyres.

I do tow a trailer and UTV totaling 3500 pounds plus camping gears in the bed. We are going to buy a toy hauler trailer.
