Simple Green warning
I would never use simple green on my truck. It says right on it not to use it on any thing aluminum. These trucks are full of it. They make a purple that they say is safe for it. Me I stick with dish soap and water for under the hood. Never been let down, my 2006 I traded in for my 2010 was cleaner under the hood then my 2010 (until I got it home).
simple green should never ever be used on alum.
even if its rinsed and rinsed it still leaves a residue that will cause the alum to loose hydrogen molecules and become brittle and fail
will it happen over night NOPE
simple green cleans very well. the problem is it doesn't get rinsed off completely
the leading reason is...we use to much to begin with, then we simply do not rinse it well enough to remove all the product residue.
in fact any off the shelf cleaner with "Di-limolean" in it will cause harm to alum if not rinsed completely
not sealed and painted alum, but the naked stuff we have all over under the hood. the alum under hood on engine parts is relying on the natural barrier of light surface corrosion to protect it from the world so to speak
or we can use lots of man hours polishing the alum brightwork.
