Default Side Mirror "twitches"

On my 2013 Lariat I have noticed on several occasions that the passenger side mirror "twitches" after starting the truck or immediately after turning it off. It appears the mirror is rotating only slightly through each axis. It would be similar if you took the adjustment **** on the drivers side and rolled it in a circle very quickly for a couple of seconds.

It does not happen consistently and of course the dealer has never heard of this issue.

Any advice on the issue would be appreciated.

Are the mirrors folded when this happens?

Mine does it on occasion, but only when the mirrors are folded in AND only when I unlock it using the keycode entry on the door......

I want to look into this further, wmikells. Shoot a PM my way with your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, mileage, and servicing dealership; I'll see what I can do to help.

Good luck with Ford finding any problem. I actually posted a utube video of mine clicking the plastic when they were folded in and the remote was hit to unlock the truck. Ford told me I was 'Extreme' with my settings. It's a software issue that Ford does not want to step up and admit they have a problem. I fixed mine with power folding truck mirrors(no help from Ford).

My 2011 does this as well as our Infiniti m35. What is common is both vehicles have driver ergonomic settings keyed to the fob. On the f150 if you have set the seat, mirrors, wheel to a driver selection and then program your fob you to recall the setting With outside mirrors folded in the drive mirror adjustment gears will not be fully engaged, causing the grounding noise. Not a big deal I just hit the mirror control as soon as the door is open before getting into the truck

It may be as simple as somebody knocked your mirror and reset it. Power fold your mirrors in and then out to reset the worm gear and see if the problem is fixed.

The mirror hasn't twitched for about a week now. I took your suggestion and power folded the mirrors a couple days ago. Will try to monitor the mirror more diligently to get a better idea of when it happens and under what conditions.

Not to get off topic here ... but i wish so bad that there was a setting to have your power-fold mirrors AUTOMATICALLY fold in when you park and lock the truck. I don't mind having to manually do it all the time (which I do), but having it do it for you would so nice. It's a shame they can't do that right now.
