Just curious...gonna level soon and had fox on the last truck..
I hear the Boss coilovers ride better on street and the fox are better off road, and since my truck is street first off road second, that's a big one. Also I have seen many many many fox coilovers with their two piece collars cross threading the shock cover. The Boss collar is a 1 piece collar and I have never seen a negative review or a faulty/broken Boss coilover. Just my observations so far, but they seem like valid points.

No, the Bilsteins were only 10K miles old. The wear was very linear. They felt the same at 10K miles as they did new. The reason I chose Bilsteins first was that I put a set of Bilstein HDs on my '06 Ranger FX4, and loved 'em. I thought I'd get the same results from the 5100s on the f150. Unfortunately not. No way, not even close. It felt like a bus from day 1: mushy and little more control than OEM (remember, 900 miles on the OEMs). I spent almost a year researching suspensions, and ended up with the BOSS kit. VERY happy with them. I would buy again. The only way I wouldn't is if a rich uncle died and left me money enough to buy a $5000 King set up. (anybody need a nephew?)

And yes, Alex is still there. Very helpful fellow.

As an aside, a friend of mine got a Boss kit for his '15 with no lift. It did lift the truck about 3/4 - 1". Truck looks real good. But I'll tell you, you sure feel the loss of the 700 lbs with the aluminum body. That thing rides like a buckboard! I wouldn't get a '15 + just because of that. And the BOSS makes it ride 50% better than stock...

I'd get Boss if it wasn't $800. Probably going to go with the Ranchos.

I only need a truck for the occasional Lowes run. Ive debated getting a trailer to tow the motorcycles with but do not like the loss of maneuverability.

I like a truck when traveling for the smooth ride from a long wheelbase and the visibility from sitting up high.

Im not interested in going offroad, I don't even take my vehicles down gravel roads.

Im looking for shocks that provide a smooth ride that will last 50,000+ miles. I will only put 5-6,000 miles a year on the truck.

Then just replace with OEM and call it a day

sorry, I said "shock" but i meant "springs". Since I'm assuming you reused the same OEM springs on your bilsteins, if the issue was with the spring (which the springs on these trucks do seem to wear out quickly), then the issue would have just followed into the bilstein setup and wouldn't be resolved until you replaced the springs, which you did with the Boss setup.

Another thing I see is people using an impact on the top nut and spinning the shaft and seal inside the shock, destroying the seal on the shock before they even had them on the truck. Mine feel in no way mushy, they are noticeably tighter in almost ever scenario in a good way.

Are you saying he put his on the zero setting? And it still raised his front end alittle bit?

If i get boss's and put em on zero and it still raises my truck even 1/4", im gonna be pissed.

I might expect that on an older truck due to the suspension sagging over time, but not a brand new one... unless your friend thought he set it to 0" of lift and was just wrong

Few if anyone around here can truly answer this accurately since you're talking an expensive part(s) that nobody changes out regularly.

To be fair, the Boss kit has only been out like...less than 2 years? And they don't have the brand recognition like Fox does since it was designed in house. I promise you outside these forums, the majority of F150 owners wouldn't know it over Fox.
