Default Scary situation...

First off, I have a 2013 King Ranch Ecoboost.

So yesterday I took a 7 hr drive down to Destin, FL and it poured down the entire way. Anyway, halfway through the trip I made a pit stop, hopped back on the interstate and gave it gas to merge on and then all the sudden the check engine light started flashing. Right as that was happening, the whole truck started shuddering. It would not accelerate or anything. Not only was this freaky bc I couldn't speed up, but I was merging onto the interstate in front of 18 wheelers in the pouring down rain!! Anyone heard of this?

I need to take my truck in anyway, just hate doing without it. I currently have a turbo leak, and I also had my MFT updated and got the A4 chip, but now on bluetooth audio, it will skip songs in the middle of playing. And sometimes it says its connected, but still plays sound through my iPhone. So annoying.

sounds like the condensation in the intercooler problem. take it in and get it checked. this way it's on record. I don't think there is a fix for it yet.

Look at the stickied "shudder" thread at the top of this forum or the stickied "condensation fix" thread in the 2011+ forum.

Welcome to the club MHaynes, you need to go to your dealer tell them of your problem and request TSB 12-10-19 be performed on your ecoboost, mine is scheduled for this coming monday. They replace the CAC/intercooler and put a new deflector shield on it, mine a 2012 ecoboost, shame they havent fixed the condensation problem on the new trucks either! It happens during wet/humid conditions

Yay, I'm not alone... My 2013 King Ranch Ecoboost did the same thing last night as well. Mine is going to the dealer next week for the problem. Sadly Ford had let this go all the way to 2013. Keep us updated, was your truck was built before September 18? Mine was built on the 16th, supposedly the new intercoolers were put on the trucks after the 18th. Sorry bud, but I hope yours was built before!

There will be people who come on this thread and say it has not happened to them OR to drive defensively. The latter one makes me laugh. I have a gas pedal and a brake pedal. When I give it gas, I expect it to go and when I apply the brake, I expect it to stop. Defensive driving is something completely different than "learn how to drive around a unexpected random acceleration problem".

I took mine in to the dealer after the shudder happened twice and was told to remove the grill I had installed in the IC hole. Come back if it does it again. I have not driven over an hour with cruise on while in the same climate as then. At least I expect the shudder now!

heishman, that was your dealers response, to remove grill? Did you kindly ask them to check there TSB or check your CAC for the latest upgrade?. Did your truck have the latest Ford (throwing darts) answer to the shudder problem?
