Default Salty engine?

I recently bought a new 2010 F 150 FX4, I live in minesota with a lot of salt and slop. I noticed that after first day of driving it my engine compartment is filled with salt, it convers all the engine, electronics and everything else. The reason is there is an opening in the fender by the coil suspension, i asked the dealer if there was something to do and they said just leave it. That is stupid i think, especialy when the salt starts to rust my computer or leads to bad caroted electriacl connections, you think they'll tell me just to leave it then? Anyone have any ideas of something i should do? Anyone have the same complaints?

I also live in MN...

I simply wash/rinse it down every week or so...even in the winter here (did it in a heated wash bay today while it's -1F outside).

I live in Texas and I have issues with the open fender well also. This 2010 F150 is the 1st vehicle I have owned that is open in that area. I think it just opens the engine compartment for premature wear under the hood and the bushings in the upper control arm.

Terrible design. There have been a lot of threads about this. Doesn't seem to be much one can do, except regularly wash the engine bay down, keeping off the parts of the engine indicated in the drawings.
