Default Rust on bumpers

So I have a 2012 and noticed today that I am getting really bad rust spots on my chrome bumpers. I am not sure what they use on the roads for ice here but what ever it is, its really harsh. I lived in Utah for years where they use salt and I never had a problem with rust on my chrome. Anyone have any idea what I can use to protect my chrome?

Was this truck subject to the winters in Utah? They say there are all kinds of things to protect your vehicle from de-icers but the only real way I know of is to wash it off as quickly as possible.

I buy monthly passes to a really good local car wash! Cost me about 27 bucks for unlimited washed for 30 days. Beats the 10 bucks a pop for individual washes. They also completely towel dry the windows and entire outside of the truck after washing!

So I usually wash mine twice or three times a week and always AFTER any major snow or ice storm. My 2012 looks brand new underneath with no salt effects on the frame etc. I keep that washing schedule until the DOT stops putting down that horrible salt brine........ They have already managed to turn the roads around here WHITE... salt dust flies up when you drive on it.

I have a nice new 2400 sq ft garage and shop with a special rubber liner floor. After driving in a heavy snow storm this month I pulled it in the heated garage and left it for a day. When I backed it out the entire area under the truck was completely white with salt chemicals. I actually took a heavy broom and swept out the salt crystals.... NASTY!! Imagine what the crap would do to your truck if left on there a few weeks? I immediately got my truck washed and it was clean when finished. I know the crap gets into places you can't remove it but at least my truck is mostly kept clean from that stuff.........

Nah I live in Idaho, just commenting on the difference between the ice melt the two states use. It's pretty terrible stuff up here.
