Running boards: Nerf of FX style
Hey guys I have a 2009 XLT which came with the regular chrome tube OEM running boards. The thing that drives me nuts about them is that the rubber step area is quite small and that the shoe area is small.
I have noticed that there are a style of FX running boards that are chrome that were OEM and had rubber strips down the entire length.
Can anyone tell me if the FX style is more practical as far as the easiest to step on?

i am pleased with the appearance of the steps on my FX4, but will admit they are small (narrow), not too bad getting in but they suck when getting out of the truck

If worried about slippage, get them Line-X'd. Problem solved.
I like the FX4 boards a lot. Wider than nerf bars (I've had Westins on other trucks) but not ugly like running boards (nothing screams "grandpa" more than that!!).

I've had both styles
I have had the tube style and now I have the FX style on my FX2. I prefer the flat step of the FX style. I am still partial to the look of the tube style. I wear a 10.5 shoe and the FX style serves well getting on and out of the truck as well as when I step up to clean the roof.
