Default Ruby Red

Does anyone know why it costs $395.00 for the paint. My wife has it on her focus and I have it on my FX4. We love the color but that's almost $800.00.

It's a tri-color paint I believe. At least that was the reason my Candy Red Metallic was extra

Same here and I would have paid $4000 for it,.... well LOL maybe not, but I get compliments from everyone when they see it.

The one color Ford has that really POPS in any light. Worth it if ya ask me.

Love that color! It looks spec-f'n-tacular in the sun! Hands down the prettiest color I've ever had on a vehicle.

I may be slightly biased... and full of ****. But I do like it.

I couldn't agree more. I just picked up a ruby FX4 in April. I wanted white but my wife fell in love with the ruby red and I caved. At first it started growing on me but now I love the color and I really don't like red vehicles

X2 for what everyone else has said. Its a tri color, or 3 stage paint. Typically those are an added charge. Ruby red in particular is actually a "candy" color. Where the base or ground coat is a metallic, and the "candy" coat is a very transparent color that goes over it. Ford had even included some of the candy in the actual clear coat as well. I have painted this color a few times, and when the clear coat is sanded the dust is pink, not white like usual.

What they said about the Tri-Color. And I payed even more for the adobe two tone, but I really like the look. Could be interesting to match if repair is needed, though.
