Rock chips
Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum so I'm not quite sure how to start this so here it goes. I purchased a 2014 f150 leftover with 59 miles on it. I love the truck, the ride and all the bells in whistles in it. I had mud flaps installed, along with rear fender wheel well covers to try to alleviate rock chips and scratches. Now here comes the problem, I have been noticing week by week that I'm noticing more and more rock chips and scratches due to rocks kicking up from the roadway. The funny part is that I have never took the truck down a dirt road. I noticed that the tires stick out from the fenders, which is probably the problem. Now I've only had this truck since May 27 and it only has 2000 miles on it. The truck is washed once and sometimes twice a week. I try to keep it in the best shape I can. I went back to my dealer and explained my situation about the frustration of having a new truck with rock chips and told me I was the only one to complain. The salesperson at the dealer was suppose to talk to the owner and get back ahold of me to see what can be done. It's been a week and never got a phone call back. I'm unaware of what to do at this point. It's very disappointing to be having rock chips and scratches at 2000 miles. Now I know some might say it's going to happen which I understand, but it's only got 2000 miles. I'm concerned as too what it will look like at 10000 miles.
Funny, I'm the same exact way w my truck. I won't even get into my wash/wax regiment lol but you have a couple options. First off do you wax your truck? It's supposed to protect the paint but who knows if that's true. I actually went out and bought a product from 3m I believe it's called " paint defender" basic rattle can you shoot on and it builds up a thick layer and is basically a clear bra. I did some research after buying and found out that it's difficult to apply evenly and is a pita to remove. So I have 2 cans I paid 22$ a pop sitting on the shelf in my garage. Next you could get some protective vinyl wich is probably the best route but also the most expensive. Just search 3m paint protection vinyl on ebay and you'll see what I mean. Or I bet you could have it all done for you but I'm a cheap basted nd almost always prefer to do it myself.lol. I have been researching how plastidip protects and was wondering if I'll just shoot the entire truck in clear when fall rolls around just to protect it from the most punishing months. Hope this can at least point you in the right direction, oh forgot to mention if you do go the vinyl route make sure you get a reputable manufacturer like 3m. It would be a shame to cheap out and have ****ty Chinese vinyl turn yellow nd fall off or worse ruin the paint

Running boards, mud flaps and fender flares. I won't buy less than a lariet or and fx4, just because of the lower fender paint protection that they provide. They get chipped, instead of your fender. I haven't driven on a dirt road since '95. Not with my primary vehicles anyway.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I guess I should look into 3m vinyl protector. My only concern with that is if the salt would get underneath the vinyl protector. Wouldn't be a good situation. Yes I do have oem running boards and Oem mud flaps. I may look into a different tire tread. Any suggestions? Thanks everyone.
Don't follow the vehicle in front of you so close and you'll see most of the stone chips disappear.
You could also try installing some of the aftermarket fender flares to stop some of the chips thrown from your own wheels.
