Default revved high at stop!

My f 150 2012 3.7 4x4 truck runs fine, no troubles, until today out of the blue: I was approaching a red light when the brakes coasted a bit to a stop (?), then while stopped the engine started revving up very high! I tried putting it in neutral but the rear wheels started squealing! I panicked and shut the ignition off. I then drove it 12 miles to the dealer with no problems. Any ideas here? I am having the dealer look at it first thing tomorrow, and thank goodness I bought the extended warranty. It seems the revving started when the brakes would not stop correctly.

Well that had to be scary . I'm very interested to hear what the dealer says. Glad your ok and didn't hit anyone or bang up your truck.

Your high transmission power lines comment might have some merit. I had the truck checked out by the dealer on Nov. 27 (the day after this happened) and they found nothing. The truck has run fine since, but it happened again today AT THE VERY SAME PLACE I STOPPED the last time it happened! I drove it another 6 miles and no problems. Any thoughts here? There are a bunch of transmission lines at that area, but there are transmission lines everywhere in the city. This is pretty bizarre!

I'd take the SM/GM for a ride to the same place.

Fact is, I pass this way almost every day. I am going to take a different route for a while, and I hope this does not happen again.

There is a 0% chance that power lines caused your problem. And about a 98% chance that a depressed accelerator pedal did, whether by your foot or something else.
